About Us

Postcards from Europe has been set up by a group of young artists and producers based in the UK.

We are working together to put on an exhibition of new creative work by emerging artists from across Europe. The exhibition will coincide with the national Big Draw campaign in October 2011.

Young international artists taking part in the project have been asked to produce a ‘postcard’ representing the place in which they live and work. This  ‘postcard’ will act as a starting point for conversation between young artists from different cultures on the themes of place, European identity, and individual creative practices.

The exhibition of artists’ postcards will take place from 3rd Oct - 12th Nov at Wem Town Hall, an emerging arts venue in the West Midlands. A publication featuring the work of the artists alongside accompanying essays and interviews will be produced in tandem with the exhibition.

We will be using this blog to showcase the artists involved in the project, and to highlight things of creative interest from across Europe. Throughout the project we will be inviting guest bloggers to share their insights and inspirations - so please get in touch if you have anything to share!

The young people running the project are:

Lucy Biddle:   Lucy has been living and working in Manchester since graduating from Cambridge with a degree in English Literature (2010). As well as running this project, and working at festivals over the summer, she is an Events Manager for the Free For Arts Festival.
